The vote has been tabulated and the winner posted! The Old Market Pub ran away with it!!
Let Recon know if you didn't like that way to vote.
The vote has been changed to reflect the choice of area for the next meeting. Two areas tied for the vote. So, establishments from both areas will be up for vote the rest of the week, until about next Wednesday evening. Form a voting block and get your favorite place chosen.

As you can see, the past two days have been rather icee around the Portland metro area. Of course, the further east towards the Gorge you go, the colder and icier the weather. The above is a picture I got off of KGW's website, showing a nice typical street in suburban PDX. Nice, huh?
It was real fun working in it over the weekend. I'm glad I have the next two days off to thaw out. I won't be going to too many places, that's for sure. Nope. Plenty of time to work out in the garage and sucker people into coming to MY house. HEHEHE...
Any suckers out there? I'd love to have you come over and bake some cookies, or some bread, or even a nice apple pie. Or, if baking isn't your forte, you are welcome to cook a nice dinner. Or if you aren't hungry, we can watch tv and drink alot! Plenty of room over here to crash out after you drink too much!
This period's Vote is a bit different. Through the first few days of voting, about five, you'll get a chance to vote on a geographical area in which you'd prefer the next meeting to be. After the location is chosen, all places within that location will be placed to vote on. The location with the most votes in the second half of the vote shall be the meeting place.
Why do it that way? Too many people complain when the location is 'too far out', or someplace they don't like to go to like, 'McMinamens', or whathaveyou. This way, with the location area chosen first, all that remains is a vote to choose the location within that area. Simple. :) You also get a question that asks whether or not you like that way to vote.
The Applebee's Meeting Place wasn't bad. Five of us braved the reports of ice and snow in order to sample the delicacies at Applebee's. The waitress was great. She kept all of our orders straight, practically sat at the table she was that helpful, and at the end of the evening, let us stink up the table long after we had stopped ordering drinks. She also did our bill with separate checks without a mistake. Wow! It's nice to have a pro run the meeting like that.
We hope to see the rest of you at the next meeting. Remember, it's not about who you're doing, or not. It's just about the food and the drink. Leave the politics at home. Come thirsty, hungry, and in the mood to get happy.
The vote is in. The next meeting, due to a flurry of late activity in the last three days, is Applebee's. Read up on Applebee's here, or go their website to view the goodies offered, and find a map to the meeting place.
This being a holiday weekend, I don't expect too many people to show up. That's ok, because after I choke down those once frozen, freshly fried run of the mill appetizers, I'm heading downtown to try out the Rogue Brewpub and Alehouse, then on along to another famous Portland landmark, to remain nameless. If you want to find out where that is, you'll have to tag along.
I sure would like to get some recons from you people. Some of you have been very good at submitting them from time to time, namely MM, and 2. The rest of you must not know how to write.
All I need is your chicken scratch. Tell me what you thought of the place, how the food or drink was, whether it had a happy hour, and I can do the rest. I'll correct all the misspellings, grammar errors, and syntax explosions. Unless, of course, you have ADD, and you absolutely insist on submitting your scribble as is. In the case of the latter, your scribble will be handled in one of two ways. It will be ignored, or if it is poetic enough, relegated to the Vogon Poetry page. And I know some of you go out quite regularly. Please help support this page by submitting your thoughts!
Happy New Year to everyone. I've added a new vote to the Voting section. Hopefully, with the holidays gone, more of you will have time to vote, and attend. New Years was a complete disaster, as most people chose to do their own thing. Perhaps some of us will come up with a New Year's Plan next year, so as to avoid the confusion.
Personally, I'd prefer to go out of town, rent a place, and be someplace safe while the drunks are out driving around. I've always wanted to go up into the mountains, and stay at a mountain resort, hotel, or cabin. I don't necessarily need all that snow, so a beach house wouldn't be bad. And as luck would have it, the weather was way to good to pass up. It was just great, and hasn't seemed to let up since that day, except for the wind.
I have access to Camp Rileah's guest housing. It's really cheap there, and is very close to the ocean, and loads of stuff to do. What? You need a brew pub close by? There is one located in Astoria, and one in Canon Beach. Take your pick! Doesn't a bonfire sound good? It sure would have been neat Saturday nite.
I'll have to check the calendar for next year. If it works out, and a quick look says New Years is on Saturday next year, a number 0f us could get very cheap rooms there that night and have some fun. Something to think about at least.
