The boys of summer...
August 29th, 2004
Removed all references to an old now defunct member of the tribe. May he rest in peace... And I thought July sucked.
Talked to Midnite again today, and she is taking notes and has over thirty pics from her trip back to Virginia. She scared me today by telling me she ate at a Cracker Barrel, and did I want the recon from that?

The Vote is in and you'll find the results here: It's come to my attention that some members of the group are on vacation, some are preoccupied, others mad at each other, and yet others not wanting to drive as far as Helvetia Tavern and Imbrie hall, no matter how good they are. People familiar with the HHC would undoubtedly say that all is in order.
So, there will be a group meeting at Quackers. How quaint. Personally, even though I like Quackers, I don't like constantly going there. So take your pick, you have three places to choose from.
Midnite is on vacation, and so far has visited quite a few places in D.C. She's promised to recon establishments she visits, and perhaps we'll get to chronicle her trip.
I'm still waiting on volunteers for Newsletter Editor, recons from your personal visits, any vacation travels you had that you care to share with us. It's all fun and games here, so have at it.

Vacation is now over with, and my cold dissipating, I can now go back to regularly updating this web page. I've asked two of you over the months to learn how to do this kind of stuff, but nobody is biting, so when I'm down, the page is down. :)
Still, some people don't understand, and let their eager impatience get the best of them, by writing ridiculous messages in the Forum... Tsk Tsk is all I can say to those without compassion, nor the patience to wait until the editor is back on his feet in front of his monitor without the adversity of snot running down his nose, or a bad cough. I won't mention any (MM) names, and let this be the last said of it.
I suppose complaints should be deemed by the editor to be the ultimate in compliment. For, why in the world would someone complain about your work ( or lack thereof ) unless they saw it as something they looked forward to reading each and every day.
As for the rest of you, it has come to my attention that the vote for the happy hour tribal meeting was COMPLETELY ignored last time. A few of you got together and decided unilaterally where the next meeting would be held. And the purported reason for this change was due merely to the supposed distance involved in driving to most of the chosen places. I also heard one of the reasons was ( Peanut ) that this person wouldn't be going to a McMinamins because she didn't want to and that was that.
What a bunch of hooey is what I say. If you guys can't drive for fifteen minutes to really great places to eat and drink, then bite me.
Another alternative to driving, and one that I think would be much more fun, is to get someone else to drive you there. Like in a big soccer mom van of some type. Does anyone know anybody who has a soccer mom van who wouldn't mind spending a few hours playing tribal chief? Huh?
Another thing. I've not had any submissions for places to go. I've not had any questions dealing with travel or cheap coupons. Few people have submitted recons and I KNOW you guys go out to eat. Come on DJ and Instigator. You guys go out all the time and you've not ONCE submitted.
It doesn't matter if a recon has already been done on a place. Keep the tribe updated! Submit a recon on a place each time you go there!
I'm also looking at volunteers for Newsletter Editor. If you are interested in writing a monthly or bi weekly newsletter about the club, and learning some html, then use the submission button and let me know. Volunteers must have good grammar and spelling abilities, and must be able to learn how to use their computers.
One new recon added, two new meeting places.
Finally, start saying good bye to Peanut. She won't be around us much longer...

Committed July to the Archives... What a month... You win some, you lose some...
