Let's see... Ham, Prime Rib, succulent scallop potatoes, three kinds of pumpkin pie, pumpkin cheesey cake (Wow! Randy can bake! ), fruit salad, corn, and loads more. Uh, some very cheap champagne from California, some great champagne brought in from Beaverton, Bloody Mary's, and some funny drink made with orange juice and champagne. I can't remember the name. The Engineer even fixed my shade.
The Stooge and wife showed up late but their grand daughter had fun running around with lil' Jaden. All in all I had a good time, if not for having the chills and aches and pains.
I hope you all show up next year at wherever for the 2nd annual Sunday Brunch Fest and that it's bigger than ever. The Instigator should have his mansion redone by then... Hmmmm...
I found this pic looking for graphics of soldiers eating thanksgiving dinner. One holiday dinner, I don't remember if it was Christmas or Thanksgiving, I managed to squeeze some cheese and crackers together. I had missed chow, and just had enough money to buy the crackers and cheese at the px the day before.

"Wes" enjoying Thanksgiving in Iraq
I don't know who this guys is, but he looks like I felt that day. Some people have it tough on holidays no matter what. And if you look around, some people, like this guy Wes, just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all. And don't forget about Pot Luck Brunch on Sunday. Show up anytime after 10 am, but the prime rib won't be done until noon. Cheers!
The new vote for next Happy Hour is up. Added two new meeting places. One pretty familiar to most people, the other is a bistro of sorts near the Tualatin Rec Center. Check them out on the Meeting Places page...
Don't forget to RSVP on the page for Recon's Brunch. Fill out the blanks, and send it to me please.
Added a new page for Food News. I like headlines, so now we have our own.
Posted the results of the vote here. Check the link at right for directions to the meeting place. Just a reminder: The Happy Hour meeting will be on Saturday.
Updated the Planned Activities page. Fixed a few typos. Dreamt of learning how to incorporate a database into a web page...
Most of us owe it to one of the services for teaching us how to eat and drink right. We carry on that tradition into our Tribe lives. Perhaps we can't drink as much as we used to, and certainly not in a proper military manner. And I've not seen anyone with a coin in their pocket for years... At least no one in the club. BUT, we stay in shape for possible recall to active duty, by practicing what skills we've learned through our years in the service, that's for sure!
So on this day of Veterans, please remember to hoist one for your fellow soldiers. Crack that bottletop, pop that tab, pour that glass, or mix that shaker, and remember those times you took to learn the art of staying on your feet even under the most trying of circumstances.
Happy Veterans day to you all. I like speaking English.

Dogfaces of the 347th Infantry Regiment
Our Tribal meeting was held tonight at Hayden's Lakefront Grill. I have to say it was a pleasant change from some of the establishments we frequent. Good food, great drinks, fantastic music, and, um, somewhat easy to find once you've been there! :) But if you didn't make it, read the review here.
There's a new vote up for the next time. Also, discussed at the meeting was the notion of holding a breakfast brunch of some type in the near future. The weekend of the 21st was discussed, but some people expressed an interest in making it another day as they'd be busy. I've placed a vote on the vote page with different weekends. Please check your calendar, mark the Sunday you'd be able to attend, and the Sunday with the most votes gets chosen. I'll save leftovers for those of you who can't make it.
Also, I've placed a vote on the page as to the theme of the cuisine for the brunch. Some people didn't like the idea of a taco brunch (Mexican theme), so I'll place different themes up for vote.
The vote is in, in more ways than one. On the second of the month, an old drunk got "elected" president, and on the 6th, we'll be, well, we'll just be drunk. With Rodney's riding a strong second, Hayden's Lakefront Grill in Tualatin won out with over 50 percent of the vote. Check out the results here.
I've never been to Hayden's but from their website, it doesn't sound too bad at all. I've added a few Meeting Place website URL's to the list over the last few weeks. If you notice some missing establishments that you'd like to see added, just holler. Then, submit your request via the Add a Spot link.
The Verboort Sausage Festival is being held on the 6th. Dammit! I have to work, of course, but if you manage to attend this fabled dinner of dinners, please take a few pictures and write me a note on how good it all was.
