PESARO'S
ITALIAN GRILL

September 24thish, 2004

It was one of those nights where I just felt like checking out a few places.  The wind was warm, and with the gentle breeze I felt like I was smelling some freshly baked bread straight out of the oven-No!  Wait!  I'm at Pesaro's!!  And sitting on the patio overlooking the Secret Lake at Murrayhill, I caught myself remembering the wood stove baked pizza and bread I sampled (too much of) on a trip to Belgium.  The smells were similar, the warm air inviting, and the drink in my hands reminding me that summer was all too good to last.  Why we didn't come back to Pesaro's earlier in the summer to take advantage of even hotter weather is beyond me.

While Pesaro's could stand to benefit from a larger variety of Happy Hour appetizers, what they do have is not found elsewhere, and tastes very good.  I like the Tower of Mozzerella, and the Frito Misto, fried calamari, prawns, onions, and Portobello mushrooms w/garlic boursin dipping sauce.  Yum!  If you have a larger appetite, try the Carne Torpedo, grilled flank steak with mozzarella, red peppers, onions and red sauce on a hoagie roll w/ fries.  That's quite a nice sandwich for the Happy Hour price of $3.95, eh?

Being outside on one of the patios makes for much better conversation as well.  And with the view of the lake, and the constant streaming of pedestrians using the various paths, my evening went quite well.

Eight adventurous souls met at Pesaro's on Friday, Apr. 2, to check out the happy hour eats and drinks.  The food was great and the choices many.  Good prices on both food and beverages.  Happy hour was only till 6pm, but we managed to have several drinks and sample some of the appetizers before the prices went up.  We thought that the coconut prawns with pineapple, dips and triple dip with fried pita bread appetizers,  were especially good.  The service was a little sketchy after the dinner crowd arrived and they got busier.  The small, round tables were of the tall variety with high stools which are more difficult for those of us with the midget legs to appreciate.  All in all, we think that Pesaro's will be a good place to go for a tribal meeting during the summer when the terrace will be open and we can sit outside and enjoy the view of the lake.
