I don't know about you, but Oktoberfests are always fun to me. Unless it's four in the morning, and the stinking tow truck driver is finally getting the gate unlocked so you can get your van out of hock, but that's another story.
Oktoberfest at Oaks Park for the Happy Hour Club is becoming an annual event. That's twice now that we've gone, and it was twice as much fun this year as last. Using the DD was a touch of genius, and being able to tumble into the van at the end of the evening while watching the scenery of the late night rush by the window, instead of concentrating on oncoming traffic and the speedometer was a welcome change.
We did a little dancing, a lot of eating and drinking, and even pasted on a few tattoos. I'm already seeing signs along the roads I travel for other Autumnal festivals of one sort or another. If one comes up, maybe we can hop aboard the soccer van again and taste the flavor of yet another of N.W Oregon's many events.

Somebody asked me what time the 'bus' leaves on Saturday. Well, as most of you know, we get off work at different times. So I guess, your bus will be leaving whenever you guys get there. Follow your bus leader! :)
If you aren't taking one of the Soccer Vans to get to Oaks Park this Saturday, and plan on driving, and still don't know when the rest of the groups will be getting there, just plan on running into them inside near a full glass of beer after about 5 PM, or even later.

You may be wondering why the Vote isn't up. It has come to my attention that on our weekend, about 100 or so years ago in a little town outside of Munich, Germany, some King threw a wedding party for his son. Included in the wedding party was a horse race (by far the most popular event), lots of people of the land, good food and plenty of Beer. As it turns out, the party was so much fun, that the King decided to make it an annual event, which immediately insured his place in history as a man of the people.
In the years that followed, the horse race went by the wayside, and the popularity naturally shifted to what was left of the party, the Beer. Oh, sure, the food was pretty good, but the Beer never gave anyone the trots, so the Beer won out.
And, oh yeah, they named the annual event Oktober Fest, most likely because that was the name of the first winning horse. We don't really know at this point.
It seems that about a year ago to this weekend, most of us who still trod the various pubs we've voted for over the last twelve months (give or take a few) attended our own Oktober Fest held in Oak's Park. You can see pictures of that party someplace here within these pages, or up on the Yahoo file site.
The Stoneman, in his zeal to repeat what a great time we all had last year, tried to get us all to show up a week early, but MM, being one to cross her 't's and dot her 'i's, figured out that the Oktober Fest we went to isn't until the weekend of the 24th.
Also, it is another Tribe Members' birthday that very day, and we want to make sure her 39th is a success as well. :)
Happy 39th Birthday To SOCCER MOMMA!

The results are in and Chevy's pulled ahead to win the vote for the September 10th Happy Hour Tribal meeting. That's Chevy's in Lake Oswego, just the other side of the I-5 Hwy 217 interchange, not the defunct Chevy's on Nimbus Road.

It's a pretty close race between Chevy's and Big Ram Horn Brewery, both good eating establishments. Somebody told me that the Chevy's in Lake Oswego has three times as many appetizers on the Happy Hour menu as did the defunct Chevy's on Nimbus Road. As for the Ram, I've no idea. I've not been in there for a couple of years, but it's still going strong. And you've got to figure, any restaurant that makes it past their first 365 days of operation, especially in an out of the way corner of Lake Oswego, must be worth it's salt. Take the time to vote and vote often.
The Rattlesnake Shake is rearing it's head in Crooked River Ranch. Still time to make it to that festival if you're so inclined. I'll try and post some stealth shots later in the week... It's not often one gets to see MM or anyone else for that matter over their usually prescribed limit...

One month is started, and yet another month is gone bye. September brings a fresh outlook on things. School starts, and all that those activities bring with us. Labor Day holiday starts us off on the right foot.
This Labor Day, Midnite has her famous Rattlesnake Roundup over the weekend at her Mom's in Crooked River Ranch. All Happy Hour Tribe members are invited, so if you're interested, and don't mind camping out, eating lots of good food, and exploring central Oregon, talk to Midnite.
It's my goal to add more pictures of recent events to the website this month. If you see a camera poking it's way into your reverie, try to have patience with it's other end and remember that only your best side will be portrayed here on these pages. Um, mostly.
